Hunt Corporation Boston Model 18 and 19 Electric Pencil Sharpener restoration
Helical 70 tooth spur and 25 tooth inner gear kit with 2 stainless steel screws included
We've developed a repair solution for a
stripped inner gear and broken main drive gear
This Nylon gear set has improved design with wider face for better durability and performance
Our gear set is 20% thicker compare to OEM and other replacements.
It fit snugly and won't slip of the shaft thanks to fine tuned hole configuration
and 15 degree Helical teeth angle
FDM made out of Nylon - tough and flexible plastic

Do not waste money for ABS, PLA plastic gear that may strip or melt
Only Nylon should be used for gears where a slippery surface is desired.
All other materials (PLA, ABS, PET, etc.) will grind creating a plastic dust and eventually fail!
Installation require some mechanical skills:
a. Take unplugged sharpener apart
b. Cut stripped part off to the length of ≤8mm (0.3")
c. Drill two 1/16" pilot holes, attach new inner gear to the frame with 2 screws (included)
(opening for
shavings release
must face down)
d. Unscrew steel cutting blade shaft, clean and lubricate
(do not lubricate nylon gear surface - it is low friction material)
e. Install main drive gear
Assemble in reverse order

Please empty shavings container regularly to prevent gear stripping.
